2. What kind of gas are they burning?

Change My Tune is a busy little tune that bustles along bursting with energy. With a surf lick and a sunny vibe, and chaneling some Strokes garage slash 60's pop vibe, the tune will get you hot stepping.

3. Who do The Lulu Raes sound like?

The Strokes, Animal House and Foster The People.

4. What have the pillocks in the press said about Change My Tune?

Some of the main influences are The Strokes, The Pixies, Oasis, The Beatles and Macy Gray.

6. Why should I give Change My Tune a lash?

Change My Tune throws you off your guard, zigging when you think it will zag. That and the 60's surf pop sensibility married to new century garage makes for a trippy little tune with a bit of fire up it's arse.

7. Do The Lulu Raes have any more bangers?

Burnout is another interesting effort.

8. Any more words dude?

Not a dilly.

“Damned if I do and damned if I don’t”

You Me At Six - Night People

1. Who are they?

You Me At Six are a popular punk pop band from Weybridge, England. Their last three albums charted at number 5, 3 and 1 in the UK album charts in that order. Night People (Aug’16) is the lead single from You Me At Six’s fifth album Night People (Jan’17).

2. What have the lads got on the go?

Night People is as deep as a puddle but it swaggers out with a grimey riff and pounding drums, layers on some "whoahs," and slaps down a head nodding chorus. A "Hey diddle, diddle, straight up the middle" rock anthem.

3. Who do You Me At Six sound like?

Sounds like Fall Out Boy, Paramore, Royal Blood (at a bloody stretch).

4. What have those lazy bastards in the press said about Night People

“The chorus and drums fire you up” – Red Brick.

“A dirty, heavily distorted blues rock earworm” – Inspired By Reviews.

“A much cooler swagger” – Loose Cardigan Of Ideas.

5. Which bands influenced You Me At Six?

The main You Me At Six influences are Blink-182, Incubus, Thrice, Rage Against The Machine and The Foo Fighters.

6. Why should I give Night People a lash?

Night People has a banging riff and a slathering of strut. Mindless fun.

7. Do You Me At Six have any other barn burners?

Well Fresh Start Fever is alright.

8. Any more words?

Night People is produced by Jacquire King (Switchfoot, Kings Of Leon and The Airborne Toxic Event).

“Oh Christ she’s not alone, alone, alone,
And my heart sinks like a stone, a stone, a stone,
And the tears won’t even come, I’m so numb”

The Record Company - Rita Mae Young

1.    Who are the lads?

The Record Company are a blues rock band (with a sliver of punk) from Los Angeles, California. Formed in 2011 their debut album Give It Back To You (Feb’16) charted  in the top twenty and the lead single Off The Ground went to number one on the Alternative Charts. Rita Mae Young (Feb'16) got a re-issue on the back of that success.

 2. Are they flogging a dead horse?

Shit no. Rita Mae Young is the better song with distance to spare. Rita Mae Young has a desperate Stonesy-vibe and shuffles along at the speed of regrets in a small dark bar, alone, on a week day afternoon.

3. Who do The Record Company sound like?

The Rolling Stones, Masters Of Reality and Nathaniel Rateliff.

4. What have the press said about Rita Mae Young?

“Soul-stirring sound of sincere blues and rock” – 50 Third and 3rd

“Shuffling beats and bass with a soulful crooning blues groove” – Uber Rock.

5. Which bands have put the get down into The Record Company?

The main influences are John Lee Hooker, The Stooges, The Rolling Stones, Canned Heat and Bob Dylan.

6. Why should I give Rita Mae Young a fair crack of the whip?

Rita Mae Young is the sound of the joy we get out of wallowing in regrets. And it's rootsy and genuine.

7. Do The Record Company have any more cracking tunes?

Off The Ground is the obvious place to start and then take a tangent and listen to their Beastie Boys cover of So What'cha Want.

8. Any more words?

No.

“When your lovers gone, can’t rest at night”

Won’t ask why”

Twin Atlantic - The Chaser

1.    So Twin Atlantic huh?

Yeah. Scotland's finest. Scrapping their way out of Glascow and banging lids since 2007 they have four fine albums to their name. The Chaser (Aug'16) is the second single off their latest GLA (Sept'16). Yep GLA is the code for Glascow's airport so it's meant to signify a return to their roots.

2. What have the boys got to say for themselves?

The Chaser has a massive Marc Bolan style riff, bombastic drums, hand claps and gang vocals. They bang on about what hard chargers they are and how they want to neck anything under the sun. It's a tit ripping ode to hedonism.

3. Who do Twin Atlantic sound like?

The Chaser sounds like T. Rex. Muse, Foals and Biffy Clyro in the main.

4. What have the hard working press said about The Chaser?

“Foot on the monitor boogie” – The Scotsman.

“Heavily distorted guitar riffs and a chant-and-clap hook” – Highlight Magazine.

“A fuzzed out punk rock ode” – There Goes The Fear.

5. Which bands have sorted out Twin Atlantic?

The main influences are Jimmy Eat World, Nirvana, Queen, The Pixies and Pink Floyd.

6. Why should I give The Chaser a whip past the brain holes?

Do you like tunes like Queen's We Will Rock You, Joan Jett's I Love Rock'N'Roll or T. Rex's Get It On? Of course you do. You'd have to be dead inside not to. Get your snout in the trough post haste.

7. What other blinders have Twin Atlantic got up their sleeve?

First off the train is Heart And Soul. The first single off GLA, No Sleep, is a stomper. Brothers and Sisters builds into a tear jerking epic and Make A Beast Of Myself brings up the rear.

8. Any more words Chief?

GLA is produced by Garret "Jackknife" Lee who has been at the controls for bands like Weezer, Bloc Party and The Silversun Pickups. It was recorded in L.A.

“I tried hard to believe,

Satisfaction is guilt and love is all that is greed”

Got on my knees and I started to pray”

1.    Who are the crew?

The Interrupters are a ska punk band with a social conscience from Los Angeles, California. By My Side is the lead single from their second album Say It Out Loud (June'16).

2. What kind of tune is By My Side?

By My Side is a rabble rousing ska charger with a gang vocals chorus. A party maker, arse shaker, fist pumper, hug maker and beer drinking song. And with a word about solidarity.

3. Who do The Interrupters sound like?

And Out Come The Wolves... era Rancid. Sublime, No Doubt and The Specials a bit.

4. What have the cut and paste bandits said about By My Side?

“A fist-pumping, tender tribute to outcast solidarity” – Hell Cat Records.

“Guitar driven and melodic” – Havoc TV.

“Undeniably fun and urgent” – New Noise Magazine.

5. Which bands have put the skank into The Interrupters tunes?

The Interrupters are influenced by bands like The Clash, Rancid, No Doubt, The Specials and Joan Jett.

6. Why should I give By My Side a lash?

By My Side is the best party music and would make a dead man dance. End of story.

7. Do The Interrupters have any more of these solid gold songs?

Indeed. Take Back The Power embodies the rebel spirit. Actually they are all good. Listen to all the songs.

8. Any more words poppet?

Say It Out Loud was produced by Tim Armstrong of Rancid.

The bass player, guitar player and drummer are brothers.

“You’ve been there since Queen St in 1993,

Yeah twenty years and a thousand beers and you’re still there for me”
